Library Cards & Borrowing

York Public Library has 55,000+ materials in-house and a vast collection of online digital items for checkout. Through Maine’s Reciprocal Borrowing Program, you can check out hard-copy books and other materials from other libraries, and pick them up at York Public Library.  We can even lend out a telescope and other items in our “Library of Things.” Learn more about what you can borrow with your York Public Library card.

Museum Passes 

York Public Library is pleased to connect patrons with discounted or free admission passes to a variety of local and regional museums. Learn more

Meeting Rooms 

Our facility has three meeting rooms that can be reserved by community groups for civic, educational, and cultural activities. Learn more about available spaces and how to book a room.

Quiet Study Rooms 

Two Study Rooms, each accommodating four people, are available on the upper level for small group work, research, and quiet study. They are available on a first come, first serve basis and use is limited to two hours if others are waiting. A sign-up sheet is kept at the circulation desk.

Books On Call Delivery Service

With the help of Altrusa of the Seacoast, York Public Library offers monthly book delivery to housebound residents of the Yorks and Cape Neddick who are unable to access the library due to ongoing transportation and mobility issues. Learn more

Printing & Copying

Black and white photocopying and printing are available on-site. Photocopies cost $.10 per page. Prints using the library printer cost $.20 per page. 

Computer Services and Wifi

The Library has several computer stations available for use by the general public. You can also bring your own device and use the Library’s wifi for free, no library card required. There is no password. Simply select “York Public Library” from the wireless options, accept our terms of use, and you’re online. Happy browsing. 

The Book Nook: Books for Purchase

Shop gently used and nearly new books, audiobooks, and DVDs on the Upper Level of the Library in the room to the left of the Circulation Desk. Proceeds from our Book Nook benefit Library programming!
