York Public Library is pleased to engage the community in the joy of learning by offering the following discounted admission passes to our patrons. With your York Public Library card, you have access to free or discounted museum passes throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. Please note: passes can be reserved online but must be picked up at the Library. Limit one pass per month per museum. Questions? Please call us at (207) 363-2818.
Maine
Children’s Museum + Theatre of Maine, Portland: 50% discount for up to 4 people. The museum offers exciting interactive exhibits for young and older children, including an animal hospital, touch tank aquarium, and more. The Children’s Museum is open but limiting the number of people allowed in the building; reserve your spot on their website before checking out the Library’s pass.
Maine Historical Society: Free admission to the Museum and Wadsworth-Longfellow House, and Brown Research Library. Please note this pass must be checked out and returned to the front circulation desk.
Maine State Parks Vehicle Pass: Allows one vehicle entry into Maine’s State Parks. Everyone in your car can visit state parks and historic sites without paying day-use fee at most sites. These passes circulate for one week at a time and will need to be returned to the York Public Library. Please note this pass must be checked out by phone at 207-363-2818 or in person at the Main Circulation Desk.
Ogunquit Museum of American Art, Ogunquit: Free admission for up to 4 people. Widely regarded as one of the nation’s finest small museums, this beautifully situated collection highlights nationally known artists with local associations. Open May to October 31.
Portland Museum of Art, Portland: Free admission for two adults and up to 6 children. Founded in 1882, the museum houses one of the premier art collections in the state.
Seashore Trolley Museum, Kennebunk: This pass is good for a 50% discount for up to five people to enter museum grounds, which contain historic transit vehicles, beautiful trails and even a trolley to ride. The entire area is dog-friendly, so bring a furry friend! Open from May through October.
New Hampshire
Children’s Museum of New Hampshire, Dover: 50% discount for up to 4 people. Engaging and interactive displays that encourage a child’s natural curiosity and sense of wonder. Exhibits include Build It – Fly It, Yellow Submarine, and Dino Detective. Museum visitors must make a reservation online.
Seacoast Science Center, Rye: 50% discount for 2 adults and 4 children. Situated on 136 acres of coastal woods and tidal pools, the Center offers a Gulf of Maine aquarium, touch tanks, interactive history exhibits, and guided walks. Picnic opportunities.
Strawbery Banke Museum, Portsmouth:
Each pass admits 2 adults + 2 children under 17 for free. The pass does not need to be returned to the Library. The historic houses are closed December through April except for special events. Check with museum for special events from November through April.
- Free museum admission for up to 2 families per day from May 1 through October 31
- Free admission for up to 4 individuals to Baby Animals: Heritage Breeds at the Banke, Ghosts on the Banke, and Candlelight Stroll (excludes the Member Preview Night)
- 50% discount on admission to Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond
- 10% off purchases at Pickwick’s at the Banke (Museum gift shop) and merchandise in the Lawrence J. Yerdon Visitors Center.
Massachusetts
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston: Reduced admission of $10 per person for up to 2 people. The museum houses a world-class permanent collection of visual arts, particularly strong in French Impressionism, American decorative arts and painting, and classical cultures. Additional fee for special exhibits.
