Summer Reading Challenge 2026

Log your progress June 13 – August 8

Plant a Seed, Read is the 2026 theme for our annual Summer Challenge. We hope you’ll join us for another fun summer of activities and books. This program is for adults, teens and kids!

Step 1: Register

All participants will receive a free book when they register! Some books are new, but in keeping with the spirit of sustainability, many are gently used books carefully curated throughout the year from our beloved Book Nook.

Register for the Challenge any day on or after June 13.

Step 2: Play

Pick up your summer Challenge activity log at the Library and mark your progress as you complete activities. Finish your log by August 8.

Step 3: Visit the Library

When you complete activities on the activity log, visit the library with your Challenge log and pick out a small prize! Only one activity log per person, please. The program ends on August 8. Prizes must be picked up at the York Public Library.

The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge was made possible thanks to a grant from Kennebunk Savings Bank and support from all of our summer partners, including: York Fire Department, York Police Department, York Public Works Department, York Land Trust, Casella Waste Systems, Kona Ice of the Seacoast, and Mr. Fox Composting.
