York Public Library invites the community to experience the library in a new way at its “Mini-Golf at the Library” event on February 6 and 7.
Now in its third year, “Mini-Golf at the Library” is an annual one-of-a-kind community event spanning two days with activities for all ages. Both levels of the library will be transformed into 18 miniature golf holes with obstacles designed by York Public Library librarians and a wide range of community groups including the York Soccer Club, York Ready for Climate Action, the York Department of Public Works, York Art Association, the Cooper family and York Fire Department, Altrusa of the Seacoast, the Coastal Ridge Elementary School Green Team, the Boy Scouts, Brixham Montessori School, Heart-to-Heart, Nick’s Steakhouse (sponsor hole), and others.
The festivities kick off Friday evening, February 6 with “Clubhouse Night,” an adults-only (21+) after-hours library takeover, ideal for a night out with friends, family, a significant other, or a favorite double-date duo. The event raises money for the library, which receives approximately 70% of its funding from the Town.
Competitively inclined golfers can register a foursome for the 5:30 PM Clubhouse Night Tournament, played in scramble format with “best ball” scoring. Those seeking a more low-key experience can enjoy 7:00 PM “Open Play” in groups of up to four people. This year the Library has added a spectator option for those who wish to attend Clubhouse Night as an observer, without golfing.
Defending “Mini-Golf at the Library” Tournament champions are team “York Soccer Club” who claimed first place in 2025. The 2026 Tournament is Friday, February 6 at York Public Library.
Between putts, participants are invited to gather at the “19th Hole” in the Community Room for beer or wine in a souvenir cup, courtesy of Nick’s Steakhouse, and food from Min Restaurant, York 54, York Harbor Inn, Anthony’s, Fat Tomato, and other local favorites.
Clubhouse Night will also feature a new Silent Auction and extensive raffles, with items ranging from a golf day for four, fine art, custom floral bouquets, and a wood spoon carving lesson to UNH hockey tickets, a lobstering cruise for four, a 4-foot elephant stuffie, book bundles for adults and kids, a pass for ten car washes at Auto Spa, and gift certificates to many beloved local businesses. Tickets for Friday night are $50 per person or $75 at the door; sign-up is at yorkpubliclibrary.org/mini-golf.

On Saturday, February 7, Mini-Golf at the Library continues with “Family Fun Day,” a free, all-ages celebration in honor of National Take Your Child to the Library Day, a special occasion that York Public Library commemorates each year with this signature event. Families and players of all ages are invited to enjoy two nine-hole courses—one upstairs in the adult area and one downstairs in the youth area. Golfing is offered from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Sensory-friendly hours are offered from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is required for sensory-friendly hours to keep numbers low and to maintain a slower-paced environment for families who benefit from a smaller crowd. Registration for Family Fun Day is at yorkpubliclibrary.org/minigolf.
Happy golfers at Mini-Golf at the Library 2024. The event returns in its third year on February 6-7 2026 at York Public Library.
Mini-Golf at the Library is made possible through the generous support of local businesses, including Anchorage Inn, Agamenticus Plumbing, Nick’s Steakhouse, The Viewpoint, Camp Eaton, Fox’s Lobster House, Stage Neck Inn, Ellis Insurance, Atlantic Federal Credit Union, Galley Provisions, Fox Pest Control, and Mountain Road Music, with support from the Central Restaurant and Bar, The Bar Next Door, and It’s a Dog’s World.
York Public Library thanks the many community members who contribute their inspiration and time to this event. Play, creativity, and connection are what the library is all about! Volunteers are needed for this event, and anyone interested should email Jane Siviski Hoffman at jshoffman@yorkpubliclibrary.org.
