My Miles on the Brush: Pamela duLong Williams

JULY – AUGUST 2026

York Public Library is pleased to present My Miles on the Brush, an exhibition of paintings by artist Pamela duLong Williams, on display from July 8 through August 31, 2026, in the Library’s Upper Level.

The public is invited to meet the artist at an opening reception on Tuesday, July 14, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free.

A professional artist for more than five decades, Pamela duLong Williams has built a distinguished career as both a painter and educator. Her artistic training includes study at the Art Students League in New York City, the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, and graduation from the Vesper George School of Art in Boston. She currently holds the prestigious title of Copley Master with the Copley Society of Boston.

Williams’ work has been exhibited in galleries and competitions throughout the United States and internationally, including the National Academy of Design, Allied Artists in New York City, the Massachusetts State House Collection, and the Cone Collection of Wilmington. Her artwork has also been featured in Coastal Living and Artist’s Magazine.

The exhibit title, My Miles on the Brush, reflects a lifetime devoted to painting. Inspired by people, places, and experiences gathered over decades of travel and teaching, Williams’ work showcases a personal and evolving artistic journey. Known for her distinctive impressionist-inspired style, she has spent more than forty years developing a unique approach to portraiture while also exploring landscapes and subjects encountered throughout her travels across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Italy.

In addition to her painting career, Williams has taught at institutions including Silvermine College of Art, the Rowayton Art Center, the University of New Hampshire, Heartwood College of Art, Wentworth Coolidge Art Center, and the Block Island Art Center. She currently maintains a private studio in South Berwick and a teaching studio in Kittery.

The exhibition is free and open to the public during regular Library hours. For more information, visit York Public Library or the artist’s website at www.pameladulongwilliams.com.

Please join the artist and the York Public Library Art Committee for an exhibit reception on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 5:00 – 6:30 PM in the Library’s Upper Level.

About York Public Library Exhibits

When you stroll into the York Public Library (YPL) to find a book, read a magazine, work at a computer, or attend a meeting or program, you will undoubtedly discover more than you expected. In fact, you will have an opportunity to see major exhibitions by some of the area’s most talented artists, past and present. The art is displayed throughout the Library.

The exhibits at the York Public Library include a broad range of art and represent artists from York, Eliot, the Berwicks, Ogunquit and the Portsmouth area. The common denominator is the quality of the work. Exhibits run the gamut and have included sculpture, fiber art, and traditional, abstract, and contemporary art. Our goal is to reach not only those who have a strong interest in art but also patrons who may or may not visit museums and galleries on a regular basis.

One of the highlights on the calendar is the “Student Art Show” held each year in April. The show features art created by young people in York from kindergarten through high school and is designed to foster excellence in art for generations to come.

Every year the Library mounts a group show called “Community Collects”.  This show features the work of one or more well-known local artists from the past. Collectors from the area generously lend pieces from their personal collections during this three-month long exhibit.

The York Public Library (YPL) Art Committee

The YPL Art Committee, composed of a small group of volunteers, selects and organizes six exhibits throughout the year. Committee members are knowledgeable in the field and familiar with the reputations of artists in our area.  An Opening Reception is hosted by the Committee for each exhibit during which the artists are invited to give an informal talk about their creative process. Exhibits are by invitation. For more information contact info@yorkpubliclibrary.org
