Sophie:
Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean
This is a super cute YA romance about a normal girl who discovers her absent father is actually the crown prince of Japan. It’s fluffy and sweet, but a heartwarming story about family, friendship, and love.
Katie:
Keepunumuk: Weeâchumun’s Thanksgiving Story by Danielle Greendeer, Anthony Perry, Alexis Bunten and illustrated by Gary Meeches Sr.
In this beautifully illustrated picture book, two kids from the Mashpee Wampanoag community learn the story of Weeâchumun (corn) and the first Thanksgiving. There is information about traditions, language and history, and a recipe is included as well.
Tasha:
Fairy Tale by Stephen King
This month my pick is going to an author that doesn’t need any extra PR but Stephen King’s newest book Fairy Tale was really an old fashioned good versus evil, coming of age journey into the stories we all know and love. The book begins catching you up to where our main character, Charlie, is in life – covering the tragic events of his youth and the process of moving through grief, parentification and hope. Charlie then does a good deed that causes an unlikely friendship between Charlie and the cranky elderly man from up the street. As Charlie cares for the man, Mr. Bowditch, and his dog Radar, Charlie forms a bond with them both. But odd things are happening, and before Charlie knows it he’s been thrust into a world of magic that needs saving. Might Charlie be the hero of this story? You’ll have to read it to find out!
