YPL’s Seed Library will return April 15. Donate your extra seeds!
We are currently seeking flower, herb, vegetable, and fruit seeds from 2025-2026 for our Seed Library, which will offer gardeners of any skill level a chance to “check out” some free seeds to grow. Can you help our seed library grow? Donate your seeds (one year old or newer, please!) at the collection bin in the lobby or at the Main Circulation Desk.
We need helping hands to sort and package the donated seeds in preparation for the seed library’s launch on April 15. Want to help? Email Marina at mmails@yorkpubliclibrary.org if you can attend a volunteer session on Wednesday, April 8 at 10 AM in the Wheeler Room.
Starting April 15:
- Browse the collection and select the seeds you want to take home. Seeds are organized first by type (vegetable, flower, fruit, herb) then labeled and stored either alphabetically or by broad category, in the drawers of the card catalog.
- You can take up to 5 seed packages a week.
- If you’d like, save seeds from open pollinated plants and return your dry, packaged and labeled seeds to the Seed Library!
