Catside Up, and Catside Down by Anna Hrachovec
Cats? Grammar? Knitting? This one fits all of my requirements. Actually, I don’t knit — I crochet. But I can see how impressive Hrachovec’s knitted creations are! One cat chills out under a piano, another stands out in a neon green shrug, and most of them end up napping around a knitted human. The rhyming text is creative and sweet, adding so much imagination to a book about prepositions. It also seems important to tell everyone that Hrachovec’s real life cat is named Soupy.

Mother-Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simon
Fans of the Thursday Murder Club series won’t be disappointed by Mother-Daughter Murder Night. Strained relationships between three generations of women begin to heal when one of them is accused of murder and they all must work together to clear her name. As Goodreads.com says, “Think: Gilmore Girls, but with murder.”
