Our CENTENNIAL Online Auction is June 10-18!
York Public Library is turning 100 – join in the celebration!
It all began when a group of York’s most stalwart readers came together on a quest to build a Library for York citizens. In 1922, the York Public Library Association was born, its members spearheading the building of York’s first Library!
Fast forward 100 years, and the Library, in a spacious new building, is both a literal and figurative community center for York’s 13,000 residents and estimated 30,000 annual visitors, located in the heart of York Village. The Library provides access to materials, services and collections dedicated to people of all ages, income levels, ethnicities, and abilities. We offer a wealth of ongoing educational, recreational, and cultural programs – all geared to enrich, entice, and inspire – and all free and open to the public.
What the Auction Supports
While a substantial portion of the Library’s budget comes from the Town and York taxpayers, roughly 35% of our funding comes from the York Public Library Association, the nonprofit entity that owns the Library and protects its future. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the YPLA, and help to build and sustain the Library programs and materials you love.
