North Star Award Challenge

There are 21 nominees for the inaugural year of Maine’s North Star YA Award. Between now and March 31st, we challenge you to read any 7 nominees of your choosing. Browse the nominees below or download a copy of the title list or annotated list. (As an alternative for those of you who enjoy writing reviews, you can also finish the challenge by completing a combination of nominees and reviews totaling 7.)

One lucky participant of this Beanstack challenge will win a copy of the book that wins the North Star YA Award, provided by the York Public Library. To be eligible for a prize, participants must pick up their prize in person at the library.

The North Star YA Award is a readers’ choice award designed for students in grades 7-12. To be eligible to vote, students must have read at least 3 of the nominees and be in grades 7 -12. Voting will occur in schools and public libraries around the state of Maine in March of 2021.

Discover more about the award on the North Star website, and find the latest updates on Facebook and Twitter.
