Kick off your reading goals with some inspiration!  See what books our staff loved in January.

Michelle:

Wordhunter by Stella Sands

WORDHUNTER by Stella Sands: “an utterly original and compulsively readable detective story about a woman who uses her uncanny ability to analyze words and speech patterns to help solve crimes.” Sidebar: it even includes sentence diagrams!!! Huzzah!

Devin:

Last Kids on Earth by Max Brailler

I’ve been reading these illustrated novels with my son, and I love them as much as he does. The stories are fun, silly, compelling, and have great illustrations.

Barb:

The House in the Cerulean Sea

I got the warm and fuzzies on this one and was unsure throughout if I’d keep that sentiment- perfect read for the winter. I could see this as a junior fiction as well but also I do like the fact that it is in our adult collection as the book is refreshing amongst some of the intense or hard-hitting angsty books I sometimes gravitate to.

Emily:

We Solve Murders by Richard Osman

Terri:

The Cliffs by J. Courtney Sullivan

Erin:

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

According to the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter – the world’s only totally reliable guide to the future – the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just after tea…

People have been predicting the end of the world almost from its very beginning, so it’s only natural to be sceptical when a new date is set for Judgement Day. This time though, the armies of Good and Evil really do appear to be massing. The four Bikers of the Apocalypse are hitting the road. But both the angels and demons – well, one fast-living demon and a somewhat fussy angel – would quite like the Rapture not to happen.

And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist…

Lynn:

What Have you Done? by Shari Lapena

A quick fast paced mystery/thriller!
